From the age when we learned about skincare, the first thing that comes to our mind is the “radiant, glowing skin that lights brighter than the moon”, and busy ourselves with various articles and searching up people on YouTube and to get some semblance of differentiating good and bad. It is easy to get influenced by big opinions, and decoding what is fact and what is not can be difficult, and might as well not be as healthy for your skin as you thought it would be. Here are a few myths busted and facts related to the myth which was cleared by experts all over the world.
You will outgrow acne
Teenagers get acne as they go through puberty and their hormones are everywhere. Women in pregnancy and going through menopause get acne as well. Acne is caused due to poor lifestyle habits, irregular eating habits, inadequate water intake, pollution, stress, greasy cosmetics, etc. Therefore, what triggers acne has nothing to do with age, you can experience them at any point in life.
Oily skin doesn’t need moisturizer
Moisturizer is the heart and soul of skincare. Many times, people are under the wrong impression that the moisturizer is making their skin feel greasy, so they avoid using one at all. It reduces the oiliness by slowing down the sebum protection and hydrates the skin. Skipping out on it might as well result in even oilier skin.
It’s better to get pop the pimple
As satisfying as it is, popping a pimple doesn’t actually satisfy your skin. If anything, a lot of the puss actually just goes deeper into your skin. This can lead to inflammation that spreads under the skin and can lead to more pimples.
You don’t need sunscreen on a cloudy day
Even if it’s a cloudy day, people still end up with sunburns if they have spent a lot of time outside. Up to 80% of UV rays can still pass through on a cloudy day, or even in the regions where it snows. In fact, in snow UV exposure increases due to reflection against the snow.
Hot water opens pore, cold water closes
Pores are essentially openings in your skin that enlarges when more oil is secreted. They don’t have muscles, so they don’t open and close. Hot water only clears out the clogged pores.
